Day to Day
No apologising for what did you do this week
Pick the house up off the floor and surrender to the sweep
All your deeds will be undone and need to be done again
take the bus to Palmerston you’ll find it’s much the same
this day to day to day to day….
Wet clothes under washing line pots banking up the sink
kid’s are wrestling on the couch teetering the brink
When it swells to overwhelm it feels we’ll endlessly
be gasping for the grace to patiently negotiate
the day to day to day…..
See the concrete mixers how they keep them hosed down clean
The lights will shine as brightly even when the ships not in
it’s day to day to day….
Wet clothes under washing lines pots banking up the sinks.
Kids are wrestling on the couches teetering the brinks
When it swells to overwhelm remember you and me
are welcome to the grace to patiently negotiate
the day to day to day….

room of love
03:33
|

Room of love
you’re contagious
pass it on pass it on
It’s welling up
we can’t contain this
pass it on pass it
Flowing out of the doorway
and into the hall
it is love like this
that can pass through walls
Room of love room of love
Room of love room of love
Now it’s filled up the building
and it will not be blocked
pass it on pass it on
And it’s bound to get on
when the next bus stops
pass it on pass it
Heading in to the city
in a slow stream of cars
Heading into the night
to light up the stars
Room of love room of love
Room of love room of love

shoes
03:30
|
|||
Go home stay home be there for the kids
sacrifice devotion I'm stretching for that give
And then I go to go out feels my wings are clipped
you know it hurts when you begrudge me this
But I don't walk in your shoes
and you don't walk in mine
Once upon a time you blew the chafe from the wheat
now I watch your face shut down when I start to speak
When I speak my stilted words fall to the ground
and it hurts that you don't try to understand
But i don't walk in your shoes
and you don't walk in mine
There's a distance about a river wide
flowing exhaustion frustration pride
Gestures of care can lift us back on the same side
Can I grow up enough to step outside my life
That I might walk in your shoes
and you might walk in mine
Come on shoes
start walking
That I might walk in your shoes
that I might walk in your shoes
that I might walk in your shoes
and you might walk in mine

howl at the moon
04:27
|
|||
One part wild, one part deep
one part senses and one part feels
But I live in a box inside my head
with the part that talks over all the rest
Ahoooooo I want to howl up to the moon
Ahoooooo I want to howl up to the moon
Like a little moth caught in a web
all this struggling hasn't gotten anywhere
So what is surrender and how would it feel
to really trust I'm here where i need to be
Ahooooo I want to howl up to the moon
Ahooooo I want to howl up to the moon
Climbed the hill in the dark
the stars were glowing bright as sparks
Felt for footholds on hands and knees
then the moon rose up illuminating me
Ahooooo I want to howl up to the moon
Ahooooo I want to howl up to the moon
Moon, moon, ahooooooooooo

hurtling
04:04
|
|||
In response to the 4th Report May 2007
for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
U.S. Chief Climate Negotiator Harlan Watson said
It is important not to jeopardise economic growth
Hasn't he heard.... that we are hurtling
Hottest day hottest month hottest year
hottest day hottest month hottest year
there's a back fence joke bing called across the land
Another drought another flood and freak tornadoes
fires are rising higher - they're laughing
soon we'll be tossing away all our winter clothes
Haven't they heard... that we are hurtling
Squinting blindly into the glaring future
hands deep in pockets fiddling with the small change
sucked into this suicidal system while
precious time to act pours down the drain
Haven't we heard...that we are hurtling

keep it in the ground
05:54
|
|||
What am i writing to you for
you've never heard of me before
I write with matters of the gravest concern
to you up in your highrise
in the boardrooms of the city skies
I know we live in different worlds
but it's the same world
We've got to keep it in the ground
Now the survey ships have gone
and left a question weighing heavy down
out on the seas of our horison
Well what if by mistake
the lines are breached all hell escapes
dousing all in the oil
that should never have been burnt
We've got to keep it in the ground
Commodities fall and rise
they'll burn dollar signs in your eyes
pleading to sell the land
sell the seas sell the skies
And I presume your a clever man
so what I cannot understand
is how you imagine our future
We've got to keep it in the ground

she slides down chutes
04:09
|
|||
Full of kind advice in an empty bar
how we just think we are all that we think we are
Dressed in human skin with a whole world within
we're truly justified to lead a searching life
She slides down chutes to dark empty places
and climbs back up through floors of staircases
She slides down chutes to dark empty places
and climbs back up
Are you filled with air and are you filled with steam
are you filled with gold and are you filled with green
Are you filled with love and are you filled with shame
Are you filled with joy and are you filled with blame
She slides down chutes to dark empty places
and climbs back up through floors of staircases...
Such an adult pride to seem so smooth inside
a much more beautiful thing this tender heart we bring
She slides down chutes to dark empty places
and climbs back up through floors of staircases.....
But you can fly back up - why don't you fly back

something missing

Something Missing
The people in this car
travelling fast, so far to go
The worlds that we pass
taken at a glance no time to slow
Sitting here with glasses half empty
we don’t know the way back home yet
Sitting here with glasses half empty
we don’t know we want to know the way
Day is getting dark, and restless in the car
we pull into a motel complex
Where later at the bar, we’re shouting at ourselves
above the videos
Sitting here with glasses half empty
we don’t know the way back home yet
Sitting here with glasses half empty
we don’t know we want to know the way back home
We’ve everything we need to wear to eat
and there’s so much to do
But everywhere we go in what we’re shown
there’s always something missing
Something missing, something missing
something missing…

plastic coated people

|

Plastic Coated People
Plastic coated people in the TV
Plastic coated people drive in new cars
Plastic coated people they’re in the streets
Plastic coated people
And it’s not even raining it’s not even raining
Well if it was raining I would want my skin to get wet
Plastic coated people in the brochures
Plastic coated people fill shopping carts
Plastic coated people look what we eat
Plastic coated people
And its not even raining….
First we stop sweating
then we stop crying
then we stop bleeding
then we stop breathing
then we stop being
And it’s not even raining…
Get wet get wet get wet
to let get wet to let get wet
to let that get wet
to let that get wet

the garden
04:56
|
|||
See the paths shrouded in grasses
there was once a garden here
Birds and flowers insects and laughter
once a garden
Baked the sun and everything
cracked and shrunken hard as rock
No one there to care for me
cracked and shrunken
You fell on me like gentle rain,
and softened me to feel again
As hard as rock I'd given up
on melting to your touch
I feel the rain settling
I feel the rain sinking in
sinking in sinking in
Look the earth is crumbling
the crust has melted all away
teeming life returns to me
it never even left
You fell on me like gentle rain,
and softened me to feel again
As hard as rock I'd given up
on melting to your touch...
